Kaien Island Trail Enhancement

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Client: McElhanney Consulting Services Ltd.
Owner: Kaien Island Trail Enhancement and Recreation Society
Location: Prince Rupert, BC
Role: Prime Contractor
Timeline: Summer 2017

In early 2017 Bear Creek Group was awarded a contract to enhance the Rushbrook Trail located on Kaien Island in Prince Rupert, BC. The contract entailed construction of three fabricated bridges and 800 metres of pedestrian trail and footpath.

Bear Creek dove into this project clearing, cutting and filling.  Next subgrade prep, hauling and placing crushed gravel was completed. Our team fabricated and installed 3 bridge crossings and finished off the project with culverts, lock block walls and chain link fencing.

This project was a community investment with multiple businesses contributing to the successful completion of the trail. Bear Creek is proud to be a part of the trail enhancement and improving the safety of the trail, as it has given civilians access to a new waterfront and walking location after being closed since 2003.
