Rainbow Hill passing lane is a stretch of highway 30km east of Prince Rupert, BC. This passing lane increases passing opportunities for motorists and will go a long way toward improving safety along this winding stretch of Highway 16.

Bear Creek Group was awarded the contract for the 2.2km passing lane on highway 16 May of 2017 and began hauling equipment onsite to start clearing and grubbing. Excavation began shortly after pavement removal and disposal. Interlocking concrete retaining wall blocks were installed for a total of 3 walls. Culverts and rip rap put in place before asphalt and job completion.

Our crew is fortunate to be a part of this construction and assisting with the B.C. on the Move, 10-year transportation plan, commitment to improve the safety of roads and highways and support our growing resource sectors in the North.
